The Linda and Rudy Slucker NCJW Center for Women is a nonsectarian project of The National Council of Jewish Women, Essex County Section that was established in 1981 to provide services to all women experiencing life-altering challenges. Services are provided on a sliding scale and fees are waived for those unable to pay. The range of services provided by the NCJW Center for Women includes:

• JOB READINESS: individualized career planning, resume writing and interview skills, job placement assistance and career clothing for interviews
• COMPUTER CLASSES: small classes for all skill levels in Windows, WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint and QuickBooks
• WOMEN'S WORKSHOPS: one session seminars to help women cope with grief and loss, reduce stress, skills training, improve self-esteem and manage divorce
• PEER SUPPORT GROUPS: A place to discuss feelings with women in similar life circumstances
• LEGAL and FINANCIAL Guidance: A short consultation with a professional financial adviser or a pro bono attorney covering topics such as divorce and child custody, estate planning and managing debt
• RAINBOWS: Peer support for children experiencing a life-altering crisis
• TEEN DATING ABUSE: A program that educates high school students about the warning signs of relationship abuse as well as healthy dating relationship patterns. Community and parent presentations available

Women come to us with varied backgrounds and skill sets. While some come to their first appointment with a relatively current resume and some direction, others are confused and anxious about how to begin marketing themselves in today's environment. Our clients are often in a crisis situation that is forcing them to re-enter the workforce, while others are preparing themselves to return to work; expecting that their spouse will be downsized from their position. A few are collecting unemployment and trying to "repackage" themselves for a new career that has more job opportunities.

Your donation helps support many of the above services as well as provide funds needed for emergency client assistance. When funds are available we provide emergency funding to help clients with food and gas money, rent support etc.
